9 Delightful Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Your Furbaby

@parsnipthecorgi

Your dog is the best cuddler in the world and always knows how to put a smile on your face. They’ve seen you through your best and worst times and loved you unconditionally through it all. I don’t know about you but to me, that is the definition of a perfect Valentine!

Here are some ways to spend this Valentine’s Day with your doggo and show them just how much you love and cherish them!

Meal for Two

If your dog is a foodie (aren’t they all?), make their day by taking them to a pet-friendly restaurant that has a special menu for them. If there isn’t one near your place, don your chef’s hat and whip up something delicious. After all, nothing says “I love you” like a yummy steak or “chicken”, right? You could even make some lovely treats for your pooch. Here are some easy but super cute recipes that you can try.

Go Shopping

A special someone deserves special treatment on Valentine’s day. Spoil your little one with some retail therapy at your local pet store. Pick them up some toys and treats and also pick up some cute Valentine-themed outfits and accessories. This is your chance to go all out!

Time for a Photoshoot

Remember the Valentine-themed outfit from your shopping trip? Put it to good use by taking a series of adorable photos with your pooch. Think balloons, matching outfits and accessories, and lots of kisses licks. While the world bombards social media with photos of boring humans, you can stand out with darling pictures of your fur-entine!

Need some inspo? Take it from these famous pooches on how to take a great pic!

Doggy Spa Day

Pamper your pooch by taking them to a dog spa in your city. Check what services they offer in advance and pick ones that you know your baby will enjoy. Think massages, aromatherapy baths, ear cleaning, blowout, and a mani-pedi! Sounds like the perfect Valentine’s Day to me!

Or you can treat them to a day at home with brushing their hair and lots of belly rubs!

Beach Day (for the west coast/south pooches)

If your dog can’t get enough of the water, plan a beach day with them! Do some research beforehand to find a dog-friendly beach. Pack plenty of water, treats, an extra towel, their water bowl, poop bags, an umbrella or shade, and of course a frisbee or ball. After all, what’s a trip to the beach without a game of catch? If you plan on letting your pooch swim, do put a life vest on them. Safety first!

A Goodie Box

Who doesn’t love to open presents? While you certainly shouldn’t get your dog a box of chocolates, that doesn’t mean you can’t get them some other goodies! Wrap up a box with gifts like a new toy, some treats, and a nice juicy bone and watch your doggo’s tail go bonkers. You can even get them a special Valentine’s Day subscription box with custom-made goodies that will make their day!

Donate to a Shelter

Your dog is lucky to have you (and vice versa) but sadly, that’s not the story of every canine. Why not make this Valentine’s Day more meaningful by donating to your favorite rescue on behalf of your baby? The two of you can even pay a visit and volunteer if you have the time. It will make some other pups very happy and isn’t that the best feeling in the world?

Here’s a list of rescues in NYC you can donate to

Go on a Hike

Active dogs love the great outdoors and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to hit those trails. Here are trails some near NYC.

Start bright and early and don’t forget to pack plenty of water and treats for your pooch. Definitely pack a camera to click some awesome photographs of your dog in his or her element!

Netflix and Woof

The best thing about dogs is that they don’t really need a grand gesture to know how much you love them. Just spending time laying on your lap whilst getting belly scratches is heaven to them! So put on a fun movie or show, grab a glass of wine for yourself, let your doggo chew their favorite treat, and creat some memorable moments together. (One of the best parts, no fighting over the remote!)
